No Respect

I wouldn’t vote for Hillary Clinton regardless, but her record on second amendment issues is putrid. From the National Journal:

In the wake of the Columbine High School shootings, Hillary Clinton urged Congress to pass laws restricting handgun sales to one a month and raising the legal age of handgun ownership to 21, according to her memoir.

“The name Clinton is synonymous with gun control to us,” said Andrew Arulanandam, the NRA’s national spokesman.

As a senator, Clinton has supported numerous curbs on guns: extending the ban on assault weapons, requiring background checks at gun shows, allowing civil lawsuits to be filed against gun makers and gun dealers, requiring mandatory trigger locks for handguns and making state gun-trace records available to the public.

I love it. 18 year old men and women can use some of the most sophisticated weaponry in the world while in the armed forces, but when they get back home, they’d have to wait until they’re 21 to possess a handgun.

The rest of Hillary’s proposed ideas are the usual mixed bag of nonsense that falls under the umbrella of ‘common sense’ but wouldn’t decrease crime in any way. As for records, Hillary has no problem opening up gun trace records to the public but doesn’t want the feds sniffing around library records under the Patriot Act. Nice consistency.

The next sentence in the article:

Obama supports all of the above as well.

Not surprised.

But Obama is actually worse:

When he was running for Senate in 2003, he filled out a questionnaire saying he supports limiting handgun purchases to one a month. He also opposes laws allowing citizens (with the exception of retired police officers and military personnel) to carry concealed weapons.

This from a guy who says he supports the right of the individual to own a gun.
